As a gravel cyclist, I’ve always been interested in trying out the latest cycling gear. And that eagerness led me to the iGPSPORT BSC300 GPS Cycling Computer. When I first heard about it, I was intrigued by its multitude of features and its enticing price point of $120-130, depending on your location. So, let me share my unbiased review of using the iGPSPORT BSC300. I have used this device for more than 4 months and I must say this device is really worth it.

Unbiased Review of iGPSPORT BSC300 GPS Cycling Computer

The iGPSPORT BSC300 is much more than your regular cycling computer. It boasts advanced features that have added a whole new dimension to my daily cycling routine. Out of the box you will get a standard bar mount, USB-C charging cable, manual and the device. Barfly mount and silicon case are sold separately.

The model impressed me with its accurate GPS tracking, making it easy to record data from each cycling trip. Similar to other cyclo computer, it comes with the standard real-time display of speed, time, and distance.

A unique feature that caught my attention was its comprehensive navigation capabilities. For its affordable price, you can get advanced navigation features which are only available on high-end bike computers such as Wahoo, Garmin, Bryton, etc.

Navigation features of iGPSports BSC300 include turn by turn navigation and a map view, which is really helpful if you’re cycling into a new place or destination. With the navigation feature, you can download and import GPX files and load the files using the navigation mode.

Its navigation feature is well created, and I was able to use this on several gravel races I have participated in. During these events, lots of participants without proper navigation device got lost on their way, ended up pedalling extra miles to get to the finish line. Thanks to BSC 300 maximum accuracy, I could complete my races without any issues. Importing the GPX file allowed me to navigate the route easily.

The device will also tell if you are off course, and you can zoom in or zoom out to see the closest road you can take to go back on route. With this feature alone, I must say that investing in this device is really worth it.

The last event I participated in which is a 120 km gravel race just consumes 25% of its battery with a moving time of exactly 7 hours and 12 minutes. With that I can say, the promised 20 hours of battery is more than enough for my needs. Probably this year, I might get additional accessories such as a candence/speed sensor or heart rate sensor and will definitely update this post regarding the battery longevity of this device.

But, functionality isn’t this device’s only strongest feature. The iGPSPORT BSC300 bike smart computer also sports an attractive design. Its sleek build and the digital LED display enhance its overall aesthetic appeal. It doesn’t end there — the device’s user-friendly interface had me navigating through its features like a pro in no time.

In fact, I just used my IGPSports BSC300’s navigational features on the recently held gravel race event called Gravelton and Unrstrktd, and I was blown away with all the features this bike computer has to offer. It also comes with smart notification features setting, so that you won’t miss important communications via text, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and more. This device doesn’t support email notifications.

If you get lost along the way, the device will beep and display off-course. You can easily zoom in and out to find a new route to get back on track.

Thirdly, IGPSport just released a new product called iGPSPORT SR30 Radar Bike light, which is kind of similar to popular Garmin Radar Light Varia, wherein cyclist can see if there are incoming vehicles on their rear, as the radar light will detect if there is an incoming vehicle as far as 150 meters and rider will be notified with sound notifications and visual like icons moving into the BSC300 screen real time. Battery life of the iGPSport SR30 is 20-25 hours and it supports BSC300 and iGS630 bike computers.

Pros and Cons

As an avid cyclist, I recently had the opportunity to test out the iGPSPORT BSC300 GPS Cycling Computer. After putting it through its paces, I have compiled a list of its pros and cons to help you make an informed decision before purchasing one for yourself.

Advantages of using iGPSPORT BSC300

  1. Accurate GPS Tracking: One of the standout features of the iGPSPORT BSC300 is its highly accurate GPS tracking. Whether I was riding on open roads or through wooded trails, the device consistently provided precise information about my location, speed, and distance covered.
  2. User-Friendly Interface: Setting up and navigating through the iGPSPORT BSC300 is a breeze. The intuitive interface and easy-to-use buttons make it simple to access the various functions and customize the display to suit your preferences.
  3. Long Battery Life: The iGPSPORT BSC300 boasts an impressive battery life of up to 20 hours, making it perfect for long rides or multi-day cycling adventures. I never had to worry about the device running out of power during my rides.

Possible drawbacks and limitations

  1. Slow GPS signal when used after a week: I’ve been using this device for more than 4 months now ,and I have noticed that if you stopped using the device let’s say for a week or 2. It would take more than 3-5 minutes before it can acquire GPS signal, especially if you turn it on, while you are inside the house. That’s not a really an issue, so what I usually do is turn it on while preparing for all my cycling gears. But, then again this issue only happened when the device was not used for more than a week or so.
  2. Smart notifications issue: Once you have turned on the smart notifications settings to get you notified when there is a text, or message to your social channels such as Facebook messenger or Whatsapp, there are times that once the BSC300 computer goes to sleep mode, it will stop alerting you when there is a new message. Not really a deal breaker, but then again you bought this device for that feature so I hope this will be fixed on future software updates.

Overall, the iGPSPORT BSC300 GPS Cycling Computer offers accurate tracking, a user-friendly interface, and impressive battery life. While it may lack some advanced features found in higher-end models, it’s a reliable and affordable option for cyclists of all levels.

Conclusion

Overall, I have been thoroughly impressed with the iGPSPORT BSC300 GPS Cycling Computer. It offers a range of features that make it a valuable companion for any cyclist, whether a beginner or a professional. The device provides accurate data tracking, easy navigation, and a user-friendly interface.
